My name is Pat Carroll. I have been turning since 2002. My first instructor was Willie Stedmond, one of the founder members of the Irish Wood Turners Guild. I live at the foot of Sliabh Bhui Mountain (yellow mountain). I have taken inspiration from the beautiful surroundings of the rocks trees and springs in the area. My early work was mainly natural edge from which I soon moved on to hollow forms. After making many large scale hollow forms I soon developed my beaded forms using home made tools. My current work is partly based on the brick illusion and the basket illusion. I m constantly looking for ideas to further my woodturning and create pieces that will be admired and revered for years to come.
